WIC: What is WIC?
WIC is a program created by the government to ensure children and their mothers receive the proper nutrition they need. WIC is an awesome program that helps provide food, formula and juices for you and your children for low income families that need the help. There are no fees required for the WIC authorization process which makes it even that much better. Not all stores are qualified to distribute WIC benefits but there is enough stores in every state to ensure that where ever you are you will have easy access to a store that does provide WIC as a service. WIC serves low-income pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk. Nearly 9 million people get WIC benefits each month.
WIC: Where is WIC available?
WIC is available in all 50 States, 34
Indian Tribal Organizations, America
Samoa, the District of Columbia, Guam,
the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto
Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
so there is no shortage of places you can live to receive WIC benefits.

WIC: How are stores authorized to accept WIC checks?
It is the responsibility of each state to provide stores that accept WIC vouchers, Every state will put into consideration the integrity of the stores owner and also if they have been disqualified from the SNAP program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) or as most people know them (Food stamps). Also they will consider the quantity and variety of food available at a particular store. around 46,000 stores are qualified to accept WIC vouchers from mothers and their families.
WIC: What kind of foods does WIC provide?
Foods included in the WIC program are as follows. Formula for infants, Adult Cereal, Baby food fruits, Meats and Vegetables, Whole wheat bread, Whole wheat tortillas and Soft corn, Brown Rice, Juice, Milk, Cereal, Eggs, Cheese, Peanut Butter, Peas or Dried Beans, Canned Fish, Tofu, Soy Beverages, Fruits and Vegetables. There may be some more that I am not thinking about at this time but these are just to give you a general idea about the kinds of food WIC provides, WIC being a free program I would think this is an amazing list and definitely beats going to a food bank for the same things but also these same things at a food bank are on the verge of being outdated. WIC is your best bet for new mothers that can't afford help with these kinds of things.
WIC: Who is eligible?
Women eligible for WIC are as follows. Pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 are eligible. They must meet income guidelines, a State residency requirement, and be individually determined to be at "nutritional risk" by a health professional.
To be eligible for WIC on the basis of income, applicants’ gross income (i.e. before taxes are withheld) must fall at or below 185 percent of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. Here is a picture showing who on the basis of income is eligible for WIC benefits.
